ARTIST BOOK WITH PHOTOGRAPHS
Patty Lemke’s work, Baraboo and Beyond, was borne out of a
2009 road trip the artist made across the American Midwest with time spent in
Baraboo, Wisconsin. Ms. Lemke states, “Baraboo is my emblem for the quiet
beauty of lonely farmlands, allocentric characters and quirky roadside attractions that find me
whenever I travel inland, far from the left and right coasts of the U.S.” The
artist choose the accordion book format as the first public presentation of
this work in keeping with the road trip’s sense of the unexpected around the
next bend.
